Oh my god! This week was crazy. The end of the Russ-time, 17th May (Norway's national holiday), party in the cabin from Knut andandand..
But first I have to mention that I just have 41 days left here in Norway. I can't believe that, it's so little.. I'm looking forward to the last weeks and I'm really going to miss you, Norway!
After I wrote my last post I went to listen to Thorvald's choir. They had a concert in the fortress. It's not that kind of music young people (including me) are listening to normally and therefor I was the youngest spectator there. But it was quite good.
On Monday I was on a AFS meeting. It was a meeting not just for the exchange students who are here in Norway, but also for the students who are going to go on an exchange year this summer. We (the students from abroad) should give some advices to the others. AFS informed us also about the canoe trip we're going to go on 2nd and 3rd June.
This week was really a lot of action going on. Tuesday, Wednesday I was out with the Russ. On Tuesday night I came home 1:45 am and I had PE the next morning 8 o'clock. Yes, I was tired like shit :-) Wednesday was 16th May. Everybody said to me that this day is absolutely the biggest party day of the year. So, of course I was looking forward to it, but it wasn't that much going on in the city because most of the Russ were to tired from partying before.
The day after 16th May is...? 17th May! Here in Norway also called as Christmas, Easter and every birthday together or simply national holiday. The day began with a Russ-breakfast in our house. Then I suit up and met Karolina on the way to the city. All the students from every school in the city were going to meet at a place where the procession would start. 10 o'clock we started to walk through the city to Torget, a central square. Some people had speeches and stuff there. But I was going to meet Anne, Jessica, Nina, Harald and Tormod in a cafe and we ate a piece of cake. Thorvald was not there because as a school principal he had to be at his school in Fredrikstad. 1:00 pm the Russ parade started. Every Russ car had a topic like local political stuff or something like that, played music and threw the rest of the Russ cards to the children. After that we went home and ate a typical 17th May meal: sausages. I was so tired after eating because of partying the evening before that I slept 3 and a half hours at the afternoon. In the evening didn't happen really much.
On Friday I didn't have school. So, I just went to the fitnesscenter and in the evening I was going to drive with some friends to the cabin from Knut. We were ca. 10 people and had a really nice party there. This cabin is just amazing. They have a privat beach, a big garden with table tennis, grill and canvas chairs and the house really nice too.
Yesterday I was at Daniel's place with Karolina, Maria and Kristoffer and watched the Championsleague Final. I still can't believe that Bayern Munich lost.
In Norway they have some "flag days". It means that you should hang out the Norwegian flag if you have one (and trust me, everyone has one). Some days which are just a little important are called "half-flag days". The picture was taken on such a day but I forgot the reason why it was a half-flag day.
Thorvald's choir in a hall in the fortress
The quay in Halden
This pizza is my absolutely favourite one. In the pizzeria "Campino" here in Halden you can get this pizza with chips and kebab meat.
AFS meeting
Eating cake on 17th May. The dress which Jessica and Anne are wearing is called bunad, the Norwegian dress.
Tormod and Harald
Almost everybody had a little Norwegian flag and the 17th May bow on the dress.
Russ parade
Every Russ car had a name. They were the faceboobs. Some other names were: Beercraft (the car from Anne Marit), Need for Sprit, Pringirls, Pacvan, Me Brysta, 6 Stjernes Fylla etc. The Russ group from Anne Marit thought about calling there car SilVan. That would've been very cool ;-)
17th May meal
The cabin from Knut with..
..a privat beach :-)
Beerpong with Karolina, Daniel, Espen, Eirik, Maria, Katrine, Knut and Diamanta.
Saturday morning: Let's make a message in a bottle. Eirik, Katrine and Knut.
Finally I finished this biiiig post. Hopefully I didn't make to many mistakes ;-)
