Happenings

On Friday, one day after my birthday, Nacho came to me. It was a surprise because everytime when I called him if he is coming now, he said "Maybe, I can't say it.." and suddenly he was ringing at the door. Anne-Marit organized this little surprise. We were going to eat pizza by "Peppe's", this is a good pizzeria in Halden. Ten people couldn't eat 4 pizzas. They were to big :-)

On Sunday Ana (exchange student from Brasil) came to Halden for visiting her hostsister and of course had we also to meet us. I showed her little bit the town and the fortress in Halden, where this picture is from.

On Tuesday had we the "OD-dag". OD stands for "Operasjon Dagsverk". It is a day where all the students can work instead of going to school. Everyone have to earn 400 NOK and this money is going to a aid organisation for a project in Rwanda. My job was to get the boat which we have on Koster. So Tormod (my hostbrother) and me took the nine o'clock ferry to Koster and then we drove back to Strømstad with the boat. After a little bit shopping in one of the biggest shopping malls in Scandinavia "Nordby" in Svinesund was the "working" day already over.

The same day on the evening was the OD-concert in a very very old theatre in Halden. When I remember it right is it from 1750. I know four of the seven people which made the concert. I didn't know what I had to expect but then it was fantastic. They are really good musicians.

King Frederik II. Statue in Gamlebyen (old city) in Fredrikstad. Frederik II. was the Swedish king who was been killed in Halden.

On Sunday Marco (Italian exchange student), Nacho and me planed to meet us in Fredrikstad. My hostsister got the driving license last week and so she liked to drive me to Fredrikstad. 30 minutes later then planed I arrived because we didn't find this silly trainstation. Marco was waiting but Nacho was nowhere and he didn't come. So Marco and me were visiting Fredrikstad with its very beautiful McDonalds :-)

Fredrikstad's Bridge

Nice cathedral in Fredrikstad

This evening I was with Karolina, Maria and Anne-Marit (two friends and my hostsister) in Nordby this very big shopping mall in Sweden. Unfortunately visited we almost just girl clothes stores :-)

Hei guys, I found the paradise on earth! :-) A huge candy shop with almost everything what people like. I bought 600 gramm candy.

2 months!

Once more a fantastic view on a sunset from the balcony of my house. My life here is going on and on. It is really crazy that there are already 2 months over, but also that I will stay more than 8 months longer. I enjoy this time so much even if I know that there will also be hard times.

On Saturday 15 October I visited Oslo. We (the exchange students from region 1) organized a daytrip to Oslo to meet each other. And so met we us in the trainstation "Oslo S" 11 o'clock. We were 14 people and it was going to be a very nice day. First thing we were visiting on our sightseeing tour was the palace. An unusual thing was that the guards were allowed to speak with people.

The "Vigelands Parket" is a big park with very very much statues of naked people in very different positions. It is kind of strange to wald through this park. When you want to know more about this park then can you do that here.

"The angry boy" is the most famous statue in the Vigelands Parket.

Street artists in Oslo

This is the two years old opera house.

Some people were already on the way home. Here are people from Italy, Mexico, Switzerland, Germany, USA and Argentina.

The view from the opera house.

I had birthday yesterday! :) That is all the chocolate which I got from my mother, my sister and my grandparents in Switzerland. To have birthday here in Norway as a exchange student is very funny. In school came much people to congratulate me. I got two cakes but I couldn't eat all alone :) When I was back from school I skyped with my mother and my sister for 1 hour. Then I called my grandparents in Switzerland because they don't have a computer. They were very happy to speak with me. After that we ate a very good lasagne which Anne cooked. In the evening I had my first volleyball match and we won 3:0 :D

Pictures and Stories

Last weekend were we on Koster in our cabin. It was brilliant weather. And when my hostfather told me, that they built this two houses self then I was really surprised, positiv surprised. It had to be veryveryvery much work til this house was like it is now. All the big stones around the house were grubbed out in the garden.
Digging, digging, digging. All the day just digging :) For to make a parking place for the moped. It was exhausting and the next day I had muscle ache in my back, but it was a nice work because you saw what you did. At the evening we got a delicious meal and for the dessert a Mousse au Chocolat which I made. After that I began to teach "Jassen" to Anne, Anne Marit and Tormod. It is the Swiss national card game.

An amazing sunset. This is the moped for what we were making the parking place.

"Vettnet", one of the two harbours on the north part of Koster.

On Sunday I was visiting Nacho, a Mexicane friend of me, in Moss. That is a city near Halden. About one hour driving with the train. We found finally a person who can make a photo of us, because on Sunday is almost nobody in the city.

While I was waiting up for Nacho at the trainstation I saw this kjempekult (very cool) Lotus. Nacho was arriving with the taxi and we maked the experience that in Norway is driving taxi very expensive. 7 minutes driving = 200 NOK / 35 CHF / 27 EUR

Høstferie

Høstferie (Autumn holidays) started. Just one week but it is better than nothing. Anne Marit (my hostsister) is in Turkey and so planed my hostparents to drive to Stavanger with me, Harald (my hostbrother) and his girlfriend Jessica. First we wanted to drive on Saturday and visit the famous Prekestolen on Sunday. But the wheater for Saturday should be so beautiful that we decided to drive on Friday afternoon. 22:00 we arrived a kind of a hotel which is called "Haukeliseter". On Saturday we were driving further but we stopped sometimes for to make really nice picture of the countryside. At one place a little lake was like a mirror. I never saw something similar. But the highlight of the day was still coming:
Prekestolen!
We had to hike 2 hours from the restaurant and then I saw the most amazing view I've ever seen. 604 meters vertical down to the Lysefjord. I was really impressed from this hight.
This night we slept in a little cabin and we wanted to be fit for the next day. We planed to drive to Stavanger and do some sightseeing. Stavanger is a nice city and I can recommend to visit this city to all people.
On Monday we drove home the whole way. More than 8 hours in the car. That is very tiring. At least ten backside-cramps later we arrived Halden. Phuu!
